Kerning Game

I just got a 100% on this font during this cool Kerning Game that my teacher showed me! What is Kerning? Kerning is when you adjust the spacing between (letters or characters) in a piece of text to be printed. It was a really good learning experience! Go check it out!

Emagine

Emagine was so much fun! Dressing up like we were going to the Oscars was great! I really loved the video sections. My favorite was "The Wall." I enjoyed cheering my fellow students on. Can't wait for next year!

Movie Poster

I used Saul Bass as inspiration to create this 1970s movie poster into a contemporary piece of art. The things that needed to be in my poster were 2-3 things. I used 3 things which are the tree, the tire swing, and the shadowed over girl. These 3 things describe the movie because the movie's main character is a little girl who spends her time outside because she's a tom boy. Her dad is a lawyer who is defending a black man and getting a lot of grief because of it. Go watch the movie and see what happens! Another guide line was using 3-5 colors. Two of which had to be black and white. My colors are Black, White, Brown, and a Tan color. Below is a Saul Bass poster for StarWars. I wish he had done one on the 1970s film How to Kill a Mockingbird like i did! Instead i found a poster (below) that used a showed person just like me. The poster below has 2 bright colors unlike me who used neutral colors to give it more of a simple look. I loved this project and it really helped me with my creativity!

Google

Google is so interesting to learn about. The original logo was designed by Ruth Kedar. "There were a lot of different color iterations" he says. The cool thing about google is the Google Doodles. Every holiday they have a different google logo. I was looking through the Google Doodles and this one is my favorite because of its bright colors. This is the Holi Festival 2014 logo.

Poster

Making this poster was an opening to my eyes. It made me think of the main things i couldn't live with out. One of the things is my car. My parents got me a yellow slug bug out of the blue. All my life i have had my eye on this car  because i think it really describes my personality as bright and outgoing. Without my car I would not have that free feeling of being to go where i want to go. The next thing is my relationship with friends. I have many friends who keep me going. The most important thing is god! He is my rock and i wouldn't be where i am today without him.

The Nerman

Dylan Mortimer is an artist who's artwork is shown in the Nerman museum. We went to the Nerman as a field trip. Right here in Johnson Country at JCCC you can experience this amazing art. I really loved this artwork because it was motion activated. (Above) When you would jump in front of it it would light up. Its a great piece of work that is friendly to any age groups. 

There were also many pieces by Kevin Kaw. He has a signature that most people don's see. He put cross bones in all of his artwork. He also has crosses on his characters eyes to represent either death or a form of shyness. There was a piece of his right when you walk in that our whole class took a picture in front of. (Right) Then there were more of Kaws work inside. (Left)
